Letter Die
Can a letter or contract be drawn up so that my parents can have visitation of my child if I die?

I am a divorced mother and am wondering if my parents could get visitation of my child if I die and he goes to live with his father. Also, can his parents get visititation if he dies? Would it be better to have a lawyer draw up papers or would a letter signed by both of us and notarized work. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes. Grandparents can get visitation orders. It's been a big thing lately - grandparents fighting for visitation. You can get an order (or put it in a will of yours) to give your parents visitation if you should ever pass!

I would add it to your will (living or dead will) and then put an motion into the Court to create an order that would go into effect in the event of your passing that would grant your parent's visitation with their grandchild! His parents if interested can also petition for visitation.

You can draw up the documents yourself and submit them to the Court in a joint-petition/motion showing the notarized paperwork you both agreed to. They may schedule a hearing where both of you attend to make sure you both did agree to the terms and no one was forced to agree or placed under duress!

C - Be Consistent
People have an amazing ability to catch on to "favoritism",
and will certainly notice if certain people receive letters
or encouraging e-mails and others do not. 

As Church leaders, it is our calling to reflect the attitude
of Christ in dealing with people, and that includes going out
our way to minister to the one who may be "down and out",
as well as the one who seemingly has it "all" together.

Work on the development of a new habit of sending a card or
letter "just because" to someone in the congregation, or
to thank them for their service of ministry.  Consistently
send out birthday and anniversary congratulations as you
collect this valuable information through church surveys.

Develop a database for Church Membership to assist in this
endeavor.  If you are in search of a cost effective web-based
system, please feel free to contact us for the name of the

of what is available for web-based systems.

Use reminders and other tools to help you remember!  Even a
pen and paper is better than nothing...

Consistency is something where you don't notice the results

compassion!

little word) we will continue to walk with Him, the way will
be clear.

Birthdays are a reminder of our beginning, and as we grow
older, we find that they are also a reminder of the fact that
one day there will be an "end".  While that may not sound
encouraging, we also know that for the Christian the "end" is
only the "beginning" as eternity with Christ is our ultimate
goal.

enjoy:    When we visit my parents' grave site, my boys always
help water the flowers. One day they argued over who should
get the water. Knowing my youngest was born one month after
my father died, my elder son said, "You can't do it. You didn't
 even know Grandpa." To that my little one replied, "Oh yes I
did. I was coming down when he was going up."
